  • How does it work?

    We have three great activities available for everyone!

    For everyday fun, pick from our Aerial Adventure Course or Adventure Zip Line Tours. Both activities are roughly two hours and include all instruction and equipment necessary for a fun filled adventure! Reservations required for Adventure Zip Line Tours. Walk-ins are very welcome on our Aerial Adventure Course, but reservations are also available.

    For even more, schedule a Team Building Program for your business, group or team! Focus on specific goals and objective to increase communication, problem solving, trust, and more. Call or email for more information.

  • What is Take Flight?

    Take Flight strives to create the best experience possible, using adventure and challenge to inspire, promoting growth, excitement, and joy. A family owned business, Take Flight features an Aerial Adventure Course, Adventure Zip Line Tours, and Team Building Programming. We want to be your destination for adventure on the seacoast!

  • Safety
    +

    It’s our number one concern at Take Flight. Our staff is specially trained and equipment checks are done daily before anyone is allowed on the activities.

  • Do you require a waiver?
    +

    Yes. Every guest needs to read, understand, and have a completed waiver signed before participating. Guests who are under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian fill out the waiver before they can participate. Our waiver is available to be printed or completed online.

  • What are the height & age restrictions?
    +

    Both the Aerial Adventure Course and Adventure Zip Tours require guests to be minimum 48” tall and between 50-250 pounds. Guests are usually five to six years old and older.

    On the Aerial Adventure Course ONLY, all guests climb in groups of two or three- no one climbs alone. One guest in each group of two or three needs to be able to reach a height of seven feet, the height of our belay cables. This is usually a guest who is 5’1? or 5’2?. One person per group of two or three needs to reach in order to move the clips from one cable to another.

  • How in shape/physically fit do I need to be to participate?

    There is no quantifiable level of fitness required to participate in the fun. Participants should be of reasonable health and possess no medical conditions that could pose harm to themselves or others in undertaking light to moderate levels of exercise. The course requires varying levels of strength, stamina, and agility. If you are unsure about your ability to participate, please consult your doctor prior to your visit.

  • Are reservations required?

    Reservations are highly recommended for the Aerial Adventure Course. Reservations guarantee your time on the course as walk-ins are on a first-come first-serve basis.

    Reservations are required for the Adventure Zip Tour and Team Building Programs.

  • What are your hours of operation?

    Take Flight is opening seasonally from April through October. Please visit our Hours and Pricing page for detailed information.

    mid-April – mid-June: Saturday and Sunday
    mid-June – Labor Day: Every Day!
    Labor Day – October: Saturday and Sunday

    Aerial Adventure Course – Pre-Flight begins at 10:00 am. Last Pre-Flight leaves at 3:00 pm.**subject to change in Spring/Fall season and on inclement weather days.

    Adventure Zip Tours By reservation ONLY. Call for availability or book online. Tours typically leave every hour.

  • When do you close for the season?

    Take Flight closes the last weekend of October. Reservations are available through November. After Labor Day we will be open on Saturdays and Sundays only.

  • What equipment is provided? Can I bring my own?

    All equipment needed to participate is provided. You are outfitted with a harness, helmet, and belay lanyards. You will not be allowed to use your own equipment on the course.

  • What will I be doing?

    Our Aerial Adventure Course has over 65 elements of varying degree of difficulty, spanning three levels to a height of 36’ above the ground. Guests traverse the elements in groups of two or three taking on a new challenge with every step. Elements include walking, climbing, and swinging through the air.

    Adventure Zip Line Tours consist of traveling on six zip wires connected to trees and utility poles where you zip from platform to platform. Zip lines are 75’-400’ long. In between some zip lines there will be bridges and cargo nets that you will use to climb to your next zip ride. Two staff members accompany each tour providing safety instruction, information on the area, ecology, and plenty of laughs!

  • What if I don’t have a buddy?

    Guests can participate on the Adventure Zip Tour without a buddy.

    For 2020, Guests can participate as a solo climber on our Aerial Adventure Course. We have suspended our "Rent-a-Buddy" program due to public and staff health and safety concerns.

     

  • Is the course certified?

    Take Flight was built by WingSpeed Adventures, a full-service provider of challenge courses and zip wires. WingSpeed Adventures is a certified Professional Vendor Member of the Association for Challenge Course Technologies (ACCT).

  • How do I contact Take Flight over the Winter months?

    We are in our office year-round! We check messages for 207-439-8838 and are available for group bookings any time of year. Also, please feel free to email us any time at Info@takeflightadv.com.

  • Can we bring the dog?
    +

    Yes, you can! We have specific areas set aside for our four-legged friends! We do ask that dogs stay out of our garden area, but they can play in our dog area. All dogs must be supervised by a member of your group and on a leash at all times.

  • Take Flight is a non-smoking and tobacco free facility.

  • What should I wear?
    +

    For any of Take Flight's activities, we recommend you wear comfortable clothing that you can wear outside for up to two hours. Athletic wear is encouraged but not required. Pants or shorts are acceptable as well as tank tops.

    Closed toe and closed heel shoes ARE REQUIRED for participation in all our activities.

  • Do you do birthday parties?

    We have sunscreen available on-site thanks to Impact Melanoma.

  • Can I bring my own Go-Pro or Video Camera?
    +

    As long as you have a helmet or chest strap, yes! You are welcome to bring your own Go-Pro to record your adventure. Take Flight has some straps available but we encourage you to bring your own to ensure a secure attachment.

    Want a record but don't have a camera? You can rent our Contour Helmet Cameras for $35 and receive a flash drive of all the videos you record on your adventure.

Zombie Zip Tour — read FAQs

  • How long does it take?
    +

    Zombie Zip Tours last between 20-30 minutes plus 5 minutes of being harnessed and brought to the beginning of the tour.

  • How long are the zip lines?
    +

    There are six zip lines connected to create the tour that vary in length from 75 ft. to 400 ft.

  • Are reservations required?
    +

    Reservations ARE required for Zombie Zip Tours. Bookings can be made online or over the phone. We recommend booking at least three days in advance as spaces are very limited.

  • Will zombies jump out at me?
    +

    Zombie are your guides throughout the tour and will be at the end of every zip line to receive you. A zombie guide will be positioned so that you can see them (light permitting). Some guides may enhance your experience if time and staffing allow. Safety is always our #1 priority.

  • Who are the zombies?
    +

    Zombies are Take Flight’s Flight Crew Members. They are specially trained for zip line operation during the day and night.

  • What will I be doing?
    +

    You will be climbing up our Lobster Trap to reach the first zip line- very much like climbing a ladder. From there, a Zombie will attach you to the first zip line and send you flying through the night sky! You will travel from zip line to zip line with a Zombie assisting you at each landing and takeoff. Zip Lines go directly over Night Terrors Haunted Woods walk so you can see and hear the frights happening down below.

  • Can I see anything?

  • Can I bring a camera or phone?

    No. We do not allow anything in your pockets while you are on the Zombie Zip Tour. Personal items and car keys can be left at the Admissions Desk. We don’t want to lose anything in the dark!

  • Where is it?
    +

    Take Flight Aerial Adventure Park on Route 1 in Kittery, ME. Take Flight is 1.5 miles north of the Kittery Outlet shopping area.

  • Is there parking available?
    +

    Yes. Parking is available at Take Flight. We ask you to park considerately. Staff Members monitor the parking lot and will direct traffic on busy nights as needed. Please be patient- there’s only so much space!

  • Can I stay with my friends?
    +

    Yes- but due to the nature and design on Zombie Zip Tours, you will not be kept together as a group. Guests will be sent from one zip line to the next which means you may not see the folks in the back of the group until the end of the tour.

  • What should I wear?
    +

    Please wear comfortable clothes for being outside at night in October. Warm layers are encouraged. Costumes are welcome if a full body harness can be worn over the top. Closed toe and closed heel shoes are REQUIRED.

  • Zombie Zip Tour and Take Flight are non-smoking and tobacco free.
